Practical experience is built into the curriculum. Our internship program draws on Chicago鈥檚 world-class high-tech, corporate and cultural resources. We make our connections your connections, so you can test-drive your dream job in the real world. You can combine academic study with compassionate service to people in need, or complete a hands-on research project with full faculty support. In your capstone software development project, you鈥檒l develop working software for an actual external client. This hands-on major has three experiential learning requirements to prepare you fully for achievement in the real world.

For international students (F-1), this program is a STEM-designated program, which can qualify you to extend your post-graduation stay in the United States.

Career paths in computer-related fields include classic jobs like programming, as well as jobs no one even imagined 15 or 20 years ago. Some computer information systems graduates continue on to graduate school for advanced degrees. Many more do so after several years in the workforce, often choosing to pursue an MBA degree.

Join a Relationship-centered Learning Community

No one is lost in the crowd at Dominican. Our student-faculty ratio is 12 to 1. We cap our computer science courses at 24 students.
